While you guys are busy with projects, upcoming exams and trainings, don't forget about your health.

Ease your cold with these symptom-fighting nutrients, herbs and spices.

Vitamin C: Research sugests Vitamin C doesn't do muchto prevent a cold but it may reduce its length. It acts as an antihistamine and anti-inflammatory to help dry up a runny nose and improves immune function.

Zinc: Sucking on a zinc lozenge every 2 hours within the first two days of a cold can decrease its duration, several studies show.

Vitamin E: Taking this immune-boosting supplement can help reduce your chances of getting a cold, according to a year-long US study.

Angdrographs: This ancient Indian herb has created a buzz among herbal practitioners due to research showing it helps treat and prevent colds. Scientists believe it stimulates the immune system by boosting the production of antibodies.

Garlic: ABritish study found people who took garlic supplements for 12weeks during the cold season were less likely to get sick, and recovered more quickly if they did, than those who took placebos.

Elderberry: Particularly good for flu. This herb cuts the severity of symptoms in half and reduces the length of flu if taken within 48 hours of first symptoms.

Spicy stuff: Chilli, cayenne pepper, horseradish and wasabu may help unclog your stuffy nose.

OFF THE MENU

Caffeine and alcohol drinks are dehydrating, and cold and flu bugs thrive in dried-out throats and nasal passages.

Echinacea. Some people swear by it, but two recent studies found it did little to prevent colds or reduce their severity.
